A memorial at the edge of the town Millerovo commemorates the Soviet soldiers who were imprisoned in Dulag 125 (Durchgangslager, transit camp) and perished in the so-called mine of Millerovo.
Between July 16, 1942 and January 17, 1943, Millerovo was occupied by the German Wehrmacht. Countless Soviet soldiers were taken captive during the advance of Heeresgruppe A (army group) in the direction of the Caucasus. The German Wehrmacht established a prisoner of war camp in Millerovo, in a depression at the edge of the town. The prisoners of »Dulag 125« (transit camp) were subjected to scant provisions and life under the open sky. There were between 40,000 and 50,000 soldiers in the camp at the same time. Those deemed »fit for work« were deported westwards to perform forced labour.
There is no information about how many soldiers were imprisoned in »Dulag 125« in Millerovo or how many of them perished.
A memorial to the Soviet prisoners of war held captive in the transit camp in Millerovo was dedicated after the Second World War.
